Honoring the Spirit Through Smudging

Smudging is a traditional Native practice used to cleanse the mind, body, and spirit through the burning of one or more of the four sacred medicines. It is a healing ceremony guided by prayer and intended to strengthen a spiritual connection with the Creator. Traditionally introduced during the young adult stage, smudging teaches respect, intention, and cultural identity. Today, some may only learn about it later in life, but its power to heal and bring balance remains timeless.
